As part of our business aims to support the local community, Jon Hough from A Class Kitchens of Bedford joined a group of eight teachers from The Bedford School to spend a night sleeping rough in the town.
“This was only a snippet of how it would feel to be without a home, but as soon as I left for the bus in to town with my sleeping bag in my hand, I felt instantly lonely. People I had spoken to the night before in Sharnbrook avoided eye contact with me.” Jon explained.
Collectively, after spending a night in freezing conditions, the group raised over £3500 to support the Prebend Street centre for the homeless in Bedford. “We are really touched by the support and generosity of our local community. This amount of money will really help people in need locally and in addition to the money raised, through the support we have received we have raised awareness of the issues surrounding homeless people locally.”
The just giving page will be open for the next seven days. If you would like to show your support please go to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/davemarsham

Here is an oak painted kitchen in cream which we designed and fitted in Potton, Bedfordshire.
The square panels in the oak painted kitchen doors provide a country kitchen feel, which is modern and fresh.
As always our made to measure cabinets make use of all the available space, providing the customer with greater storage within the kitchen, including internal pullout wire work, integrated bins and under the over cupboard space for pots and pans.
The customer chose a luxury Corian worktop with a white inset sink to complement the oak painted kitchen. The dresser cabinet was fitted with internal lighting to offer a mood light for the kitchen diner.
We are seeing more and more customers requesting Maia worktops. Maia is a lower priced alternative to natural stone work surfaces, with greater resistance to heat and a sleek stylish finish.
What is Maia?
Maia worktops are made from the finest of materials. The high technology surface consists of acrylic resin, two thirds aluminium hydroxide and colour pigments. The properties of these components combine to form a versatile practical material ideal for worksurfaces.
Maia worktops have the appearance of real stone with a greater heat resistance, virtually inconspicuous joints. They are aesthetically appealing and have a smooth feel. These points together make Maia worktops a great option for your kitchen.
Buying Maia worktops
Maia worktops are simple to install. They are pre-edged and the surface is factory finished so there is no need to re-sand the top once it is installed (except in the area around a joint or if you apply edging). Maia worktops are made in a 600mm depth as standard and a 650mm depth for deeper cabinets or appliances or if there is pipework to run behind the units.
Maia worktops can also be purchased with a curve at each end. The standard 240mm radius complements the majority of kitchen doors.
In addition to the standard worktop Maia worktops can be supplied in a wider slab to accommodate breakfast bars and islands. You can also purchase sink modules with a drainer cut out for under mounted sinks, plus matching splashbacks, upstands and plinths.
A Class Kitchens of Bedford have now teamed up with a Maia worktop supplier. If you are interested in Maia worktops please contact us to view our samples and find the perfect solution for your kitchen.
